Thank fuck 2016 is nearly over. It’s been an awful Christmas for us Star Wars fans with the sudden death of Carrie Fisher following a heart attack, and then the death of her mother, Debbie Reynolds, one day after. I can’t wait to see the back of this year. So many legends lost…
Anyway, I thought I’d round-up my top ten films of the year. They’re films I saw at the cinema in 2016 so possible have a 2015 release date. We’re always behind in the UK…
So today has been like Christmas… and it isn’t Christmas yet.
Some funky people at Warner Bros decided to drop a teaser for the new Blade Runner film and it’s pretty amazing.
I’ve been looking forward to seeing Arrival for a while. Despite appearances I do enjoy a good sci-fi movie and I’ve been seeing the trailer for Arrival for a while and it got me interested.
Directed by Denis Villeneuve, the director of the Blade Runner sequel. I said before I went in the film I would have a bit more confidence in the sequel, and I definitely do now. Arrival is exactly how you do sci-fi.
I like gigs. I don’t go to enough gigs because I’m a lazy person. Working 7-7 days doesn’t always help because most gigs start at 7.
Anyway, last night I went to a gig. Yay! I saw the duo Slaves at the De La Warr in Bexhill. I love the De La Warr. I’ve seen some cool people there before like Johnny Marr and Everything Everything.
I can’t write about music for shit. All I can say is it was a super energetic show that went way too fast! I stayed away from the mosh pit and stood on the raised side bits. (A super cool thing the De La Warr has.) I’m still in a bit of pain from the car accident so didn’t really want any further injuries! I had a good enough view so can’t complain.
I always get reminded at the occasional gig I do go to how much I love live music and I promise myself I will go see more bands – but I never do. This year I’ve only seen two bands. The most bands I saw was in 2012 when I saw The Cribs twice and some other stuff.
Now I have my own car I really should stop making excuses and go out to see more music. Never know, may find a man… (Hahahahahahahaha!!!!) I do have tickets for Busted and Kaiser Chiefs next year so that’s v exciting.
I just wish the Jarman brothers would pay a visit to Bexhill one day…
